Many thanks to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for their unwavering support. In December 2017, we were invited to their board meeting to conduct a presentation about the Fund's origins. In May 2018, we were included in their Big Payback 24-hour online giving challenge. We've now been highlighted on Page 4 of their annual report! We appreciate the awareness and exposure. Stay tuned for more good news in 2019!
The 260 Change Fund is participating in The Big Payback, a 24- hour, online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continuing their work and directly improving the community around them. This is the first year that the 260 Change Fund is taking part in the event.
Presented by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, our region’s dedicated day of giving begins at midnight on Wednesday, May 2 and runs for 24 hours. Once the clock starts, anyone can visit TheBigPayback.org/260ChangeFund and make donations to the 260 Change Fund and other participating nonprofits - including schools and religious institutions - serving the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee.
Interested in learning about the best practices of philanthropy in communities of color? Join members of the 260 Change Fund for a presentation on the Essentials of Diversity Giving (EDG), a curriculum developed by the Community Investment Network (CIN). As a national network of giving circles, CIN inspires, connects and strengthens African Americans and communities of color to leverage their collective resources and create the change THEY wish to see.
Marsha Morgan, the CIN board chair and Birmingham, AL resident, will be conducting the worksop to inform participants about giving circles, collective philanthropy, and strategies to strengthen philanthropic efforts in communities of color. Attendees will gain valuable insight on effective diversity giving from an experienced philanthropist and founding member of the Birmingham Change Fund. Background: The founding members of the 260 Change Fund selected the name as an homage to those who participated in the nonviolent, direct-action campaign to end racial segregation at lunch counters in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, that began in February 1960. The Fund is organized for the purposes of collective philanthropy, with each of the Fund's members focused on delivering their time, talent and treasure to support underrepresented communities in urban Nashville.
The 260 Change Fund envisions a thriving community that possesses a sustainable culture of giving through collective philanthropy made possible by unifying resources and empowering agents of change.
